In the Wellness Lab, students will develop self-awareness and skills for sustained emotional and physical well being.

By Participating in the Wellness Lab, students…

  • Promote both physical and emotional health through physical activities.
  • Participate in activities that foster the connections between body, mind & spirit.
  • Host guest speakers who offer information on culturally specific wellness issues.
  • Learn about the connection between nutrition, wellness and behavior.
  • Begin to plan for the future post-school and gather resources for making that transition.

Examples of Acievements

  • A young women’s group learning self-defense techniques (Shaolin Kenpo)
  • Planning and plotting a community garden
  • Learning and practicing yoga
  • Exploring Hip-hop dance and movement in a group with a dance instructor
  • Local nursing students present experiential workshop on nutrition for teens
  • Students work on projects in a peer knitting group
  • Participating in voice and music lessons
  • Cooking and baking in individual mentorships and small groups
  • Learning to work with dogs in animal assisted education
