A couple months ago, Pet Haven started partnering with The Lab – a program of the St. Paul Public schools where youth are inspired, encouraged and empowered to discover, understand and share their voices and the truth of their lives. Ahnung, a dog originally rescued by Karen Good of Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue has become a “regular” visitor at the school, spending time one-on-one with the kids, or participating in group presentations. Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Filed Under Lab Stories | Leave a Comment
When asked, “What do you want to do at The Lab?” E., a student at Battle Creek Middle School responded, “Bake.”
He came to The Lab four times to work with Tess, one of The Lab’s school social workers. After making a stir-fry, pancakes, and cookies, he culminated his project with the dessert of all desserts. Even through he couldn’t give out his grandmother’s secret recipe, E. and Tess did some research and made their own version of the Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
While we can’t share this secret recipe with you, we can say that it involved creating the cake backwards in the baking pan.

What is Respect?
by S.
What is respect?
Where does it come from and
does it have more than
one meaning, like
roasting on someone you care about
running with a friend
being emotion, equal or having envy for
a person you care about or
being special for knowing you are or
being thankful for your skills you were born with
or being polite to someone no matter what race,
style, and home they choose or are,
and that is what respect means
A Dream Can Be Anything You Want
by S.
A dream can be anything you want
all you have to do is take actions
to make that dream become real.
But you must not judge or use violence,
but use words to express your feelings.
And if we all join together
this dream will become truth.

We are skaters
We are pushers
We are jumpers
We are strong
We are skateboarding
We are the future
Now go skateboard day and night
until the sun gets bright like light
