Off to a great start in our new space at Homecroft School, we’re providing many exciting arts-based opportunities for students at most of our eleven PAS & PSD sites throughout St. Paul Schools.

Abstrack Pack at The LabWe have three sites coming to The Lab @ Homecroft School on a regular basis for Student Enrichments & Staff DevelopmentHighland Junior High PAS, Murray Junior High PSD and Highland Senior High PSD are coming to us. experiences. Twice a month, students have had a chance to see the hip hop crew, Abstrack Pack, the spoken word performer, Tish Jones, and to participate in small group hands-on experiences in Digital Photography, Visual Art and the Poetry Lab.

While their students are participating in the Enrichments with Lab Staff, guest artists and volunteers; Mary is with the whole team from each program for staff development, working toward improved and effective teaming and programming for their site. A rarity in their average school days, this provides the whole team with a chance to plan and organize without their students present.

Currently, the students coming for our Enrichments are working on a variety of individual and collaborative creative projects in preparation for a performance and showcase in December. Right before the end of the semester, the staff, students and their families will come together for this event.

Along with our Student Enrichments, The Lab is also connecting many artists and mentors to direct service opportunities with students – both here at Homecroft School, as well as in individual PAS/PSD sites.
