Off to a great start in our new space at Homecroft School, we’re providing many exciting arts-based opportunities for students at most of our eleven PAS & PSD sites throughout St. Paul Schools.

Ginny and Kitty, two local artists, came to The Lab’s Enrichments last week to mentor youth in photography. Along with Tricia, one of our Americorps*VISTA workers, our guest artists mentored students over the course of three Enrichment days. The Enrichments happen at The Lab’s Headquarters (at Homecroft School in Highland Park) and offer both hands-on creative experiences as well as inspirational shows put on by local writers, artists, and performers.

The following are some pictures made by youth in The Lab:

As the youngest mentor at The Lab, my obligation is to help youth cope with anything, any problem that life can bring; and being a lover of music, the youth can feel me.

I was also a co-builder. I helped Kristen (Lab staff) build the recording studio and the good thing with it is, I get to record an album that will release January of 09.

This is my last year of high school but hopefully not with The Lab. If I love it, YOU will too. I even have mentors, that is cooler than fans.

Glo and Kristen. Kris does everything in The Lab, everything the from the visual, to poetry and tech. Glo work with the junior high kids mostly in the studio. He is a great recording artist.

Not bad for my first blog! There will be more to come, go to the poetry high school students recorded last year, I’m on there. Check it here.

Can’t forget about D., watch out for his blog.

I had a great job at the biggest record label in the world, living in a twenty-room mansion with a swimming pool, and as far as I was concerned, attended and was apart of the greatest church I have ever been to in my life. Everything was extremely well for me but….I felt something was still missing… Read more
