Where I’m From (Hazel Park poet)
I went from sittin’ in a cell,
2 living in hell
Ma’s doped up,
daddy’s gone,
where I’m from
you wouldn’t call a home.
Hopes & dreams are up & down
Everyone ask
“Why don’t you ever smile?”
I feel my business
is my own
this pain has made me turn
my life is gone
& where I’m from
you wouldn’t call a home.
